KOKOMO

About

Leanne Harvey and Aaron Woolley have performed together as KOKOMO – as far back as the defence of the America’s Cup here in Perth in the late 80’s - and the opening of the then new Burswood Casino. KOKOMO back then was a 6 piece unit and played as Resident band at the Casino for the first 6 months after its opening. A further One year residency at THE SUNSET CLUB at the then new ‘Hilary’s Marina’ followed, (as a 5 piece unit), supporting and backing many international acts.

Over the years since that time they have worked successfully as a duo at many local venues as well as in South East Asia. Aaron eventually moved back to the UK in the mid 90’s and worked as a solo artist whilst Leanne married and had a family, and studied to achieve her bachelor of music degree.

She teaches at a renowned private school and is regarded in high esteem for her ‘trumpet tone and playing expertise ’ not only in contemporary music – but also ‘classically’ where she has worked with the WASO and the Hills Orchestra as 1st trumpet on a number of occasions.

Besides KOKOMO - Aaron has performed with many local bands over the years as well as being with the English hit recording group ‘The Tremolo’s’ for 2 years in the mid 70’s Together Leanne and Aaron produce a great sound as well as being highly entertaining and good fun – either using ‘light sequenced backings’ to enhance their performance or they can work totally ‘unplugged’ in a more ‘laid back setting’ depending on the venue and what is required.

Their repertoire focuses on the Classic songs of the 60’s – featuring Leanne singing such songs as - Puppet on a String – Always Something there to remind me - SANDI SHAW Many hits from the MOTOWN era such as:

Baby Love – Where did our love Go- My Guy – Stop in the Name of Love – You Keep Me Hanging On – Tell Him – I Want You Back - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow etc The Carpenters – Close to You – Super Star – We’ve only Just begun – etc
Moving onto the 70’s and 80’s they perform an array of material from:
The Pretenders – The Eurhythmics – Edie Brickell – Motels – Linda Ronstadt – Pat Benatar. Aaron Woolley adds many great classics from ‘The Beatles – Kinks – Searchers – Buddy Holly – Elvis - all great 60’s material plus many ‘Rock n Roll classics’ – also featuring many Surf Guitar Classics – from The Ventures – The Shadows etc.
On the more laid back side – KOKOMO can perform many great ‘Jazz and mellow songs’ ideal for a dinner party/corporate setting – where the emphasis is on pleasant listening whilst people eat and just enjoy an evening relaxing etc.
